Seed Survivor

Agrium’s Seed Survivor exhibit is coming to the 2012 Tulsa State Fair.  This curriculum-based interactive exhibit is designed for children in Grades 1 through 6 and travels North America year round.  It encourages children to master the elements that plants need to grow.

Eight interactive stations feature over 20 multi-media and virtual reality games and activities designed to teach youth that plants need water, light, healthy soil and nutrients to survive.  Youth are also taught where their food comes from and the importance of agriculture.  Seed Survivor explains how plants are essential for human survival by producing food, income, oxygen and enjoyment for us all.

Top 10 things to do at Seed Survivor:

  1. Plant a sunflower seed to take home and grow
  2. Compete as a farmer applying nutrients and water to three fields to grow a healthy crop before harvest arrives
  3. Magnify insects for a close-up look at the specifies head, body and even wings
  4. Unscramble puzzles to discover how wheat reaches your plate as bread
  5. Search and find plants and animals hidden in a watershed
  6. Design a garden selecting beautiful flowers, yummy vegetables and cool outdoor accessories
  7. Color a farm scene
  8. Ask a plant expert known as an agronomist a question
  9. Listen to a soil scientist explain how soil particles can determine what land is best used for – growing a crop or holding a swimming pool
  10.  Race against a clock in a virtual underground maze to find the exact balance of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and water needed to grow your crop. Discover cool soil critters along the way

This exhibit will be located in the Just for Kids area of Central Park Hall throughout the 2012 Tulsa State Fair.
